Over the last couple of months, our Coach team has focused not only on new developments, but also on improving existing features. The aim: to make the whole Coach experience smoother and more enjoyable.

Now we are excited to announce that we have released a considerable number of new features, improvements and bug fixes.

One of the team’s main goals has been improving Coach’s speed on all fronts. We’d like to take you through some of the optimizations that have been released:

As we’ve mentioned in an earlier post, our very own Laura Bota, Christof Schneider and Prof. Andy Way have written a paper on Coach entitled “Coach: Designing a new CAT Tool with Translator Interaction”, which Andy presented at this year’s Machine Translation Summit in France.

The paper takes a detailed look at how Coach was developed with the help of translator feedback. It also has an interesting case study on productivity in Coach which we would like to share with you:

It’s time to introduce another member of the Coach team. Many of you will already have come into contact with Dan Zavoian from our Coach support team. Let’s give him a very warm welcome!

Dan joined Lingo24 in November 2012. As a member of the support team, Dan trains translators in Coach, liaises between translators and the development team and also between the Lingo24 employees and clients.

The Importance of Feedback

As you all know, translators’ feedback has been an integral part of the development of Coach. It’s certainly been an interesting process!

And now, our very own Laura Bota, Product Manager of Coach, Professor Andy Way, Director of Machine Translation, and Christof Schneider, Workflow Consultant, will be presenting a paper on this at a prestigious industry conference.

Work on Coach is going smoothly and we’re excited to announce that we’ve reached a new milestone in its development. We’ve just launched some great new features and enhancements on the live server.

And we’d like to take you through some of them:

  • Enhanced internal matching: In-context repetitions & fuzzy repetitions (including the display of Translation Memory (TM) matches for fuzzy repetitions).
  • Filter on selection (Under Find and Replace) - you will now have the option of filtering segments based on various key words.Find and Replace Filter

And the introductions continue. In this week's post we welcome Andreea Sabau from the IT team. Andreea joined Lingo24 back in 2010 as a Junior PHP Software Engineer, and since then she has advanced to a more senior level.

Within the Coach team Andreea is working on supplier statistics, which help you, the translator, monitor your productivity in Coach. She has also worked on font sizes and types for Coach.

We’ve been working hard on new enhancements for Coach over the last fortnight - many suggested by you. We’re pleased to say these enhancements are set to be released over the next few weeks.

Here are some of the new features coming very soon:

  • Font sizes and types - under Preferences you will now be able to change the type and size of the font. Font size and style

As promised, we’re continuing our series of introductions to the Coach team. This week, we say hello to Andreea Damian, who joined Lingo24 in 2010 as a junior programmer.

At university she studied Electronics and Telecommunication, and then worked as an engineer before joining Lingo24. Now Andreea is a senior Quality Assurance Engineer. Within the Coach team, she’s in charge of testing, interface design and quality assurance, as well as periodic releases according to their pre-set cycle.

Dear translators, as you might have guessed, there are a lot of people involved in our biggest project to date, Coach. A truly dedicated team has been working for the last year on the development, implementation and promotion of our own translation technology platform.
